Amazon.com Inc announced on Friday that David Clark, the company’s chief executive officer for its global consumer business, is leaving after 23 years to pursue other opportunities.
Andy Jassy, the CEO of Amazon, said he expects to have an update on Clark’s succession in the coming days and weeks. The 1st of July would be Clark’s last day in office.
Clark has led teams that designed fulfillment centers and transportation networks since joining Amazon in 1999, shortly after graduating from his MBA program.
I've had an incredible time at Amazon but it’s time for me to build again. It's what drives me. To all I've had the honor of working with: thank you for making it so much fun to come to work every day for 23 years to invent cool, amazing things for customers.

When Amazon’s e-commerce sales spiked during the pandemic last year, he became the CEO of Worldwide Consumer, a unit that manages the company’s global websites.
Clark’s departure is the second high-profile departure this week, following Sheryl Sandberg’s announcement that she would be leaving Meta Platforms Inc after 14 years.
